Becoming an Australian citizen is one of the most important decisions a person can make. Local Governments have an important role to play in ensuring that citizenship ceremonies are a meaningful experience for people who have chosen to make Australia their home.
Council’s act as an agent for the Department of Immigration and Multicultural Affairs in the granting of citizenships. Each year, council conducts a number of citizenship ceremonies with one being held on Australia Day.
